Applications

The LUYOR LELMS-38L Three-Wavelength UV Lamp covers a spectral range from 254 nm to 365 nm, delivering UV‑A, UV‑B, and UV‑C output in a single instrument. Each wavelength band serves distinct purposes across multiple disciplines:

365 nm (UV‑A) – Fluorescence Excitation & Optical Inspection

UV‑A radiation excites electronic transitions in certain organic and inorganic compounds, causing them to emit visible fluorescence. The LELMS‑38L Three-Wavelength UV Lamp is ideally suited for fluorescent dye visualization, mineral and gemstone identification, forensic evidence examination, counterfeit document verification, and detecting surface cracks or coating irregularities in manufactured components.

302 nm (UV‑B) – Photochemical Activation & Biological Modulation

UV‑B photons carry sufficient energy to trigger specific photochemical reactions without causing excessive tissue damage. This makes the 302nm band valuable for controlled biological applications, including DNA damage and repair studies in molecular biology, as well as dermatological phototherapy for conditions such as psoriasis and vitiligo. In agricultural research, it is also used to study plant secondary metabolite production and stress responses.

254 nm (UV‑C) – Germicidal Irradiation & Nucleic Acid Crosslinking

UV‑C radiation is strongly absorbed by nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), inducing the formation of pyrimidine dimers that disrupt replication and transcription. This mechanism effectively inactivates bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. The LELMS‑38L Three-Wavelength UV Lamp delivers reliable 254nm output for surface decontamination, water and air sterilization, laboratory biosafety cabinet disinfection, and crosslinking of nucleic acids to membranes for Southern and Northern blotting applications.
